Hacienda de Cortés (Day 22 of 27)

In 1530, Hérnan[do] Cortés started construction this hacienda that includes a grand residence plus a sugar cane processing plant or cañera.

That was almost 500 years ago. Today, it is a historical site and a  hotel & spa resort. It turns out that nowadays, there are several historical and restored haciendas that function as a hotel.

Outdoor paseo

My Spanish instructor, Gloria, showed me this place. We stayed for drink and dessert, bebida y postres. I had a lemonade or limonada. In Mexico, fresh squeezed lemonade is made with a touch of salt under the rim of the glass.

Outdoor paseo. The arches are aqueducts for transporting water to the cañera

Nuestra HISTORIA

LEAVING CUERNAVACA
In late afternoon of September 22, My host family drove me to the bus terminal, helped me buy a one-way (ida) bus ticket (boleto) for about $7 USD. They have me a hug and cheek kiss to say goodbye. I was a bit sad to leave them.

In Mexico, bus transportation is common way to move people from city to city, compared to the United States.
